THE GUIDE
A Community PSE Exploration Process Guide (The Guide) has been developed to help SNAP-Ed PSE implementers support a community through an in-depth process to assess needs, identify and prioritize pressing issues, identify and prioritize PSE strategies to help solve the issues. The last step of the Process is the development of an action plan to move the PSE work forward. All of The Guide activities are done in collaboration with community residents and other key stakeholders. The Guide was last updated December 2021.
Community PSE Exploration Guide Templates
Who should use the updated Guide?- New Local Implementing Agencies (LIAs) should use the updated Community PSE Exploration Process Guide.
- If an LIA wants to complete the Process with a new community, they should use the new Guide.
- If an LIA that has completed the action plan in the past wants to revisit their plan, they should use the new Guide.
- If an LIA currently has an action plan and they are using it, they do not need to update it with the new Guide.
- Michigan Fitness Foundation (MFF) project managers may also recommend that an LIA use all or part of the updated Guide to inform their PSE.
Resources when using The Guide:
There are a variety of resources in the
Overview and Resources section of PDF or Word versions of The Guide. Beginning on page 3, you will find links to an explanation of PSE, assessment tools, community engagement tools and strategies, data mapping tools, example policies, and other resources.
